VES Summer Sports Camp
June 8 - 12 | June 15 -19
9 a.m. - 3 p.m. daily | Cost is $199/week
The VES Sports Camp is a co-ed, multi-sport camp that provides basic instruction, supervised recreation, and fellowship in sports and games for boys and girls ages 7-13. In all that we do, the emphasis is always on the development of positive, healthy sportsmanship and competitiveness in a fun and spirited fashion.
Campers are grouped by age (7-8, 9-10, 11-13) to ensure the best experience for participation and learning. Campers receive daily instruction in the fundamentals of basketball, soccer, lacrosse and track. In addition, there is time each day for instruction in tennis for interested campers. Intra-camp competition within these sports, as well as various contests and sports related games, are part of each week’s activities.
Boys Lacrosse Summer Camp
July 6 - 10
9 a.m. - 12 p.m. daily | Cost is $175/week
Open to: Rising 2nd - 9th Graders
Come spend a week learning and playing The Creator’s Game. Participants will learn the fundamental skills of lacrosse and be able to apply this knowledge in game situations throughout this fun-filled camp. Campers are grouped, depending on age and skill level, to ensure the best experience for participation and learning.
Coach: Kevin Gates, a former lacrosse player with two National JUCO Lacrosse Championships, has 30 -plus years of lacrosse coaching experience at the high school and college levels, including Salisbury University in Maryland,;the University of Notre Dame, where he helped the Fighting Irish to their second appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament; Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia; and SUNY Dehli College in New York, where he was awarded the National Junior College Lacrosse Coach of the Year. Before joining VES, Coach Gates was the head coach for lacrosse at Worcester Prep in Maryland.
Equipment Needed: Lacrosse stick, helmet, gloves, arm pads, should pads, protective cup, cleats, water bottle, bathing suit and towel. Goalies also must bring chest and throat protector.
Coed Cross Country Summer Camp
July 20 – 24
6 - 8 p.m. daily | Cost is $100/week
Open to middle, and high school runners (rising 6th to 12th graders)
Directed by Virginia Episcopal School varsity cross country coach Christopher Bright, the VES Cross Country Camp is established on the core principle that running is a part of a balanced, healthy lifestyle. The camp welcomes middle and high school runners (rising 6th – 12th graders) of all levels of experience and ability, and emphasizes enjoyment, performance, and preparation for the fall cross country season. Camp sessions are used for age appropriate training and strength development, and include discussions on a variety of training and racing topics, such as human physiology, nutrition, race strategy, cross training, and goal setting.
Coach: With more than 25 years of experience as a running coach and competitive runner and triathlete, Christopher Bright was named the 2019 Virginia Independent Conference Cross Country Coach of the Year, and guided VES' boys cross country team to a VISAA Division II state championship this past fall. Prior to his return last year to VES, Bright served as the head cross country coach at the Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ, where he was named the 2011 and 2012 Trenton Times Prep Cross Country Coach of the Year. Under Bright’s guidance, the Peddie boys and girls cross country teams captured seven Mid Atlantic Prep League Championship titles and three New Jersey Prep ‘A’ State Championship titles since taking over the program in 2010. As a competitive athlete, Bright is a two-time member of Team USA, representing the United States at the ITU Triathlon World Championships in 2001 and 2012.

Boys Soccer Summer Camp
July 27 - 31
9 a.m. - 12 p.m. daily | Cost is $150/week
Open to ages: 10 - 13
The VES Boys Soccer Camp is for boys ages 10-13 who are looking to progress their soccer skills to the next level. All drills and activities are designed to improve players technical and tactical abilities. The camp will strike a balance between hard work and fun by using activities and competitions that are both enjoyable but instructional.
Coach: Pete Huryk has been coaching for more than 20 years with experience from Semi-Professional to Pre-K programs. Prior to returning to VES, Pete was an assistant coach at Drew University (NCAA Division III). While at Drew, he helped the men’s program to an undefeated regular season and a run to “Sweet 16” of the NCAA tournament. At the high school level, Pete has been to two NJ State Championship games and won one. In addition to those accomplishments, he has won four Conference Championships and a County Championship. Despite these successes and accolades, Pete’s focus is primarily about helping young adults win the inner struggle that teenagers go through daily. For this reason he has written two books intended for high school age student athletes and publishes a blog focused on self-reliance.
Equipment Needed: Soccer cleats, soccer socks, shin guards, shorts, t-shirt, towel and water bottle
