Student Leadership
By participating in a variety of leadership roles on campus—in the classroom, the arts, athletics, clubs, and formal leadership councils—students voices shape the tone and culture of VES. While leadership roles exist at every grade level, the four highest leadership groups are outlined below.
Counselor Body
This group—selected by faculty vote—is an important component of our Residential Life program, assisting dorm parents with duty on all dorms. They also plan and host occasional weekend events on campus for all students.
Honor Committee
The Honor Committee is composed of members of the current senior class who are elected by student vote. Each member must possess integrity and sound judgment in decision-making. They are charged with the responsibility of providing orientation to the Honor Code, as well as investigating any violation thereof.
Student Council
The Student Council is composed of council members from each grade selected by student vote and focuses on class leadership. Each class is tasked with enhancing student life at VES, allowing students opportunities to develop leadership through service, spirit and school events.
Junior Resident Assistants
This group—selected by faculty vote—is an important component of our Residential Life program, assisting dorm parents with duty on all dorms. They also plan and host occasional weekend events on campus for all students.
