Geometry Goes Out in the Field

Students in Honors Geometry embraced the recent warm weather and went outside to measure the heights of each other and shadows. Using these heights and the angle of elevation to the sun they were able to find the heights of objects they can’t measure. After collecting measurements the students went back inside and worked on scale drawings to find those unknown heights. The field work was a great introduction into using trigonometric ratios with right triangles.
