VES Field Hockey Team Wins BRC Conference Championship

On Saturday, the Virginia Episcopal School field hockey team played Carlisle School to win the BRC conference championship—the first BRC field hockey championship in VES history. It was an amazing game for every single player on the team, despite many injuries! From team member Mae Dandridge '18: "After 60 minutes of intensely dramatic game play, we tied after a goal by Sally Carrington '18 with an assist from Hadley Meadows '18. The game went into a 7v7 sudden death overtime, in which VES tied again, leading us to 1v1s. After the 5 1v1s by seniors Hadley Meadows, Madison Workman and Sally Carrington, sophomore Margaret Sprunt and junior Sadie Royer, we were tied again at 5-5. In the third overtime, after an amazing save by goalie Elizabeth Smith '18, VES claimed the title of champions!" In addition, Hadley Meadows, Madison Workman, Sally Carrington and Sadie Royer earned 1st team All Conference. Margaret Sprunt and Elizabeth Smith received honorable mention.

Congratulations to the team and their coaches: Elizabeth Blaum, head coach; and Tatum Bell '07 and Meghan Nealis, assistant coaches.
