The second annual VES "Land vs. Sea Meet" was recently held at Randolph College. This fun tradition began as a way to quell the friendly banter between swimmers and their land athlete counterparts that usually starts with, "Let's race!" or "I bet I can beat you in [insert event here]."
On Saturday, a group of students from Mrs. Rhem's advisory, Kate Flippin, Hannah Saye, Grace Battle, and Annie Mitchell, along with Frances Fenton, participated in the third annual "Coldest Night of the Year" charity walk benefitting Miriam's House—a local program providing housing and support to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Central Virginia.
A group of nine students recently spent three days in Norfolk, Virginia at Old Dominion University attending ODUMUNC 47, a model United Nations conference. This was VES' second year attending the conference at ODU
International Expo Day, held on Monday, February 26, was an enriching experience for the entire VES community. For the first time, the event was held in Pannill-Smith Hall, and the community embarked on a journey around the world, led by 15 of our international students.
As we wrap up the winter sports season, many of our teams have completed their seasons and student-athletes are preparing for spring sports. Congratulations to both varsity basketball teams on advancing to the quarterfinals of the Division II VISAA State Basketball Tournament!
