Weekly Sports Round Up

Girls tennis battled to the end in the semi-finals against Nansemond Suffolk Academy on November 11. After finishing singles tied 3-3, it came down to the final doubles match—a 5-4 hard-fought loss. We are so proud of you, Bishops! 

Cross Country ran in the VISAA Division II state championship meet at Pole Green in Mechanicsville, Va., last Thursday. Senior Colin Walsh was named State Runner of the Year with his win. The boys team finished 3rdin a very talented field, and the girls and them finished 7th, the highest position ever. Of the total 18 runners, 13 finished with PRs—a personal best record! Way to go, Bishop harriers!

Our Bishops football team ended the season with a 7-2 record and as the VISFL Division 1 runner-up. On Saturday, November 13, the Bishops lost 34-22 to a Greenbrier Christian team that was out to avenge a regular-season loss to VES. The game Saturday was the first time since 2012 that the team made it to the state championship—a great accomplishment. Congratulations on an outstanding year! 

Boys varsity basketball opened strong in its showcase tournament at Hargrave this past weekend. They defeated Franklin Prep by 2 points 55-53 on Friday and dominated Timberlake Christian 71-20 on Saturday.
