VES Community Celebrates Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Last week, the Students of Color affinity group hosted an Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration on Box Plaza. They partnered with our Meriwether Godsey dining staff to serve Indian appetizers, such as chutney, naan bread and mango lassi smoothies. Tables were decorated with cultural artifacts from family members. Also celebrating Eastern cultures that are not Asian or Pacific Islander, Marc Chammas and Leyla Gulomova represented Lebanon and Uzbek. At their table, students learned the Russian alphabet or a phrase in Arabic. The afternoon was full of lively conversation, tasty food and Bollywood music!
