Three Bishops Achieve Eagle Scout

On Saturday, April 9, seniors Nick Ebert, Travis Jones and Jack Sorenson were recognized for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in a special ceremony in Langhorne Memorial Chapel. This award reflects the culmination of years of dedication and hard work, and recognizes the unfailing support of parents and scout leaders in the growth of these individuals. These young men, members of Boy Scout Troop #7 in Lynchburg, are now among the top 3 percent of Scouts in the country who attain this rank. The ceremony was officiated by Scoutmasters Charlie Schindler (troop leader), Dr. John-Paul Jones (Eagle Coach) and Dr. Al Baker (president of the Blue Ridge Mountains Council, Boy Scouts of America). Speeches affirming the gifts and character of each Scout proved a high point of the morning. VES Associate Head of School Chris Button spoke for Nick Ebert, Dr. Jones shared supporting comments for his son Travis, and schoolmate and Eagle Scout Jack Prahinski made remarks in support of Jack Sorenson. Chaplain Adam White closed with the Benediction, drawing parallels with the Scouts and the Gospel of Luke’s account of the young Jesus who grew “in wisdom and years, and in divine and human favor.” Congratulations on this achievement, Nick, Travis and Jack, and thanks to all who have supported them on this journey!
