During the Christmas break, seven international students remained on the VES campus. Mrs. Gates, one of the staff members who supported the students over break, said, “These amazing kids are the embodiment of a Portrait of a VES Graduate—independent, responsible, hard working and caring! Pendleton Basement became their hub, where they cooked together, watched TV, played games and worked on college essays. The students formed their own little family, giving each other space when needed, but spending most of their time together. Students shared lots of laughs and conversations, and supported each other with their essay writing and other work. It was a true pleasure to attend to them! While it is hard not to leave campus, these students made the absolute best of it! We are very proud of them.”
