Nikitha Prabhu '23 Named National Merit Scholar

Nikitha Prabhu '23 was recently named a National Merit Scholarship recipient. Nikitha is one of just 2,500 Merit Scholar designees chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program to receive a $2,500 scholarship. Nikitha originally qualified to enter into the highly-selective competition in October 2021 as a result of her PSAT scores, which placed her among the highest-scoring participants in the state. Following this initial screen of program entrants, each student was evaluated based on a wide variety of qualifications, including their academic record, course load, grades, contributions to their school, leadership, community service, a written essay, and recommendations.

During her time at VES, Nikitha has excelled both in and out of the classroom, being named a Sparkman Scholar, serving as Honor Committee Chair and a member of Student Council, and leading several fundraisers on campus, including Cupcakes for a Cure, to benefit local organizations. She will be attending the University of Virginia in the fall. Congratulations to Nikitha on this well-deserved honor!
