Students Volunteer at Local Urban Farm Lynchburg Grows
Organized and hosted by the Student Council, over the weekend VES students traveled to Lynchburg Grows—an urban farm in Lynchburg, Virginia that provides healthy, affordable produce to the community and provides jobs to individuals with special needs. Students hauled dirt to garden beds to prepare for planting winter root vegetables, planted garlic bulbs and lettuce seeds, and cleaned up the rose bushes that had become overgrown with weeds. From washing planters to sorting green beans, our students helped in any and every way they could to support Lynchburg Grows.
In our Portrait of a VES Graduates, we promote the idea that students will be mindful leaders focused on community. It's wonderful to see so many students bringing these tenets to life.
