Students Claim Victory in Student vs. Faculty Turkey Bowl
Over the weekend, students and faculty gathered together to face off in the highly anticipated, inaugural Student vs. Faculty Turkey Bowl. With fierce competition on both sides, the crowd waited with bated breath to see who would win.
Students jumped to an early 7-0 lead, but the faculty wasn’t going down easily. Coach Trae Watkins scored the first faculty team touchdown, tying the game at 7-7. With touchdowns from Dylan James ‘20 and Xavier Lee ‘22, students took back their lead at 21-7. With determination and some amazing catching, faculty members Zach Abeles, Justin Dalton and Will Rhem helped lead the team back to 28-28 going into halftime. After the half, sophomore Drew Stokes quickly scored. As the game wound down, the faculty still had hopes of tying up the game, but Mac Gates ‘22 (pictured left with trophy in hand) caught an interception that sealed the game 42-28.
Students cheered as the team hoisted their Turkey Bowl trophy high. Faculty are already plotting their plans to regain the Turkey Bowl Championship trophy in 2020.
