Bishops’ Cross Country Impressive in Season Opener

In their first race with Coach Chris Bright at the helm, the VES Cross Country team placed an impressive third overall this past weekend in the Boys’ Varsity race at the Blue Demon Invite in Christiansburg, VA.  The notoriously difficult Christiansburg 5K course proved to be an important early season test for the returning VISAA D-2 State Champs. Senior Daniel O’Brien cruised to the individual win in a time of 16:23—a full 51 seconds ahead of the next runner. O’Brien was followed by Row Sterne (9th place) and Colin Walsh, who both cracked the top 15 and posted solid efforts early this season. Hardt Lesko ’21, John Tharp’21, Luke Meadows ’22 and Thomas Cook ’20 all had great races and rounded out the varsity squad. The Bishops race again at the Pole Green Invitational in Mechanicsville, VA on Saturday September 7. Go Bishops!
