Freshman Kohl Perkins Wins VIC Singles Tennis Tournament

VES made a great showing at the VIC Singles Tournament Saturday in Charlottesville. With three student-athletes competing in the tournament, it was Freshman Kohl Perkins who came out on top––VIC Singles Champion. Kohl entered the match as the #1 seed and had a bye for the round of 16. In the quarter-finals and the semi-finals, he roasted the #2 players from Eastern Mennonite and Covenant, playing nearly flawless tennis: 10-0 in both and faced only one ad point the whole time. As expected, Kohl faced off against the #1 player from Covenant in the finals. Kohl jumped out to a 4-0 lead before his opponent took 2 games to tighten it up at 4-2. But that was all his foe had in the tank as Kohl rattled off six straight games to win 10-2, bringing home the Singles Champion plaque!
