Spanish II Hones Skills While Making Homemade Churros

There’s nothing like delicious food to bring a foreign culture to life. Students in Ms. Whittemore’s Spanish II dove into their unit on food by frying up some homemade churros. After practicing their vocabulary for food and gaining confidence in reading recipes of Latin American dishes, the students came together in the Pendleton Basement to cook the churros from scratch––all while reading and speaking in Spanish. The sweet treats were the perfect way for students to gain fluency before writing their own recipes.
