Virginia Episcopal School is excited to announce the recipients of its prestigious Sparkman Scholarships—the school’s top merit award for new day students entering 9th grade. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, co-curricular involvement, writing samples and interviews, as well as demonstrating a strong sense of personal integrity and leadership, and promise of success at VES and beyond.
Receiving the awards for the 2019-20 school year are incoming freshmenCaroline CarringtonandNikitha Prabhu.
Carolineis a native of Lynchburg, Virginia, and will join VES from James River Day School. Her interests range from playing multiple sports to diligently practicing the violin, as well as dedication to her academics. Caroline’s teachers commented on her natural ability to serve as a leader, her status as a top scholar, and her “impeccable character.” The VES community is thrilled to have Caroline bring her strong work ethic, athletic talent and leadership skills to the VES student body.
Nikitha, who resides in Lynchburg, Virginia, will join VES from James River Day School. She plans to further pursue at VES her passion for robotics and her love for soccer. Nikitha is commended by teachers as a “superlative scholar” and an individual with “high moral character.” Her academic successes and variety of interests will be wonderful additions to the VES community both in and out of the classroom. VES is excited to have Nikitha join and contribute to our VES community.
