William Hu '20 Wins Regional Brain Bee

Four VES students participated in the Regional Brain Bee held in Lynchburg. After weeks of preparation, Alison Guo ’21, Tina Hui ’21, William Hu ’20 and Michelle Wu ’19 spent the day competing against other students from the region in three types of assessments—written, oral, and lab practical—in the field of neuroscience. Brain Bees test students’ knowledge of the human brain, including such topics as intelligence, emotions, memory, sleep, vision, hearing, sensations, addiction, and various diseases of the brain. After hours spent both in the lab and in competition, William Hu was declared the regional winner in two of the three assessments, as well as tying for the win in the third category—clinching the overall win! William is invited to represent our region in the U.S. Brain Bee Championship to be held in April at the Penn State College of Medicine. William will be competing against winners from 54 different regions in 37 states across the U.S.
