Four VES students participated in theRegional Brain Beeheld in Lynchburg. After weeks of preparation, Alison Guo’21, Tina Hui’21, William Hu’20 and Michelle Wu’19 spent the day competing against other studentsfrom the regionin three types of assessments—written, oral, and lab practical—in the field of neuroscience. Brain Bees teststudents’ knowledge of the human brain,including such topics as intelligence, emotions, memory, sleep, vision, hearing, sensations, addiction,andvarious diseases of the brain. After hours spentbothin the lab and in competition, WilliamHuwas declared theregionalwinner in two of the three assessments, as well as tying for the win in the third category—clinchingthe overall win! William is invited to represent our region in the U.S.Brain Bee Championship to be heldinAprilat thePenn State College of Medicine. William will be competing against winners from 54 different regions in 37 states across the U.S.
