Spanish Classes Bring the Global Experience Closer to Home

Señora Rhem and VES’ advanced-level Spanish students have been working hard to bring language to life––immersing themselves in the traditions and culture of Spanish-speaking countries. AP Spanish heatedly debated whether or not bullfighting should be eliminated in Spain. With junior Daniel O’Brien as debate moderator, the side defending the tradition ultimately won. In Advanced Spanish IV, the students ended a unit on Colombia with some traditional Colombian cuisine. Gathering in the Rhem’s kitchen, the class enjoyed preparing––and eating––arepas con queso and Colombian tea.
