14 VES Delegates Attend Duke University Model United Nations Conference

Last weekend, 14 VES students, curious about the world and seeking to improve it by understanding geopolitics, attended the 37th annual Model United Nations Conference at Duke University. The conference plays host to more than 600 high school students from all over the world. Model UN provides students hands-on experience as a representative of either a country or key individual role in the UN. This year’s conference debuted several new committees including INTERPOL, Star Wars crisis committees and a committee focused solely on the greater Durham, NC area. To prepare, students spent weeks in advance researching an assigned topic, writing a position paper and then using that information to suggest and debate resolutions designed to solve world issues.
Our VES contingent included freshmen Katherine Caprise and Janys Li; sophomore Johnny Zhou; juniors Jordan Anderson, Annalise Eaton, Riley Mitchell, Grace Morales, Sunny Sang, Maggie Wu and Briony Zhao; and seniors Fabian Hultin, Helen Ma, Emmi Nye and Wilson Smith. Great work, delegates!
