Commencement FAQs

  • When and where is Commencement held?

    The 103rd Commencement Exercises—or Graduation—will be held on Saturday, May 25. The events begin at 10:30 a.m. Assuming good weather, Commencement is held on the lawn of front Jett. In case of inclement weather, Commencement will be held indoors in Van Every Athletic Center.
  • Where do we park?

    Parking is available on the campus in several locations. Parking attendants will direct you to the closest available parking location.
  • When should we arrive for the ceremony?

    Parents and guests frequently arrive one hour early to take pictures and identify their seats. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Seniors are asked to report promptly at 8 a.m. on the morning of Commencement and have several activities prior to the ceremony.
  • Can my senior stay at the hotel or can my day student senior stay on dorm during Commencement Weekend?

    All 7- and 5-day boarding seniors must stay on dorm. Day students may not stay on dorm. 
  • Who may attend Commencement?

    There is no limit on the number of guests a graduate may invite to Saturday morning’s ceremony and luncheon that follows.  
  • What do the seniors wear to Commencement?

    Boys wear navy blue blazers, white dress shirts, khaki dress pants, dress shoes and socks. The school gives each boy a tie or bowtie according to the boy’s wishes and it is to be worn for Commencement exercises.
    Girls wear white dresses and appropriate accessories. Dress sandals are acceptable, but no casual sandals or flip-flops will be permitted. Their graduation charm and necklace—a gift from the school—is to be worn.
  • What is the length of the Commencement ceremony?

    The ceremony typically lasts about 90 minutes and is followed by a luncheon.
  • Do I register for the luncheon? Is there a fee?

    Yes. In order to have the appropriate quantity of food, ALL GUESTS must register here. Graduating seniors may bring up to two guests compliments of the school. You MUST REGISTER your senior AND all guests online. The fee is $16 for the luncheon. Please register no later than May 10, 2019.
  • What is the length of the Baccalaureate Ceremony?

    The ceremony is typically one hour.
  • When and where is Baccalaureate held?

    It is held in Langhorne Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 24 from 5 - 6 p.m.
  • What do seniors wear to Baccalaureate?

    Boys must be dressed in blazers, dress slacks, dress shirt and tie, dress shoes and socks. Girls must be dressed appropriately and modestly for a special religious service to include covered shoulders (no spaghetti straps) and hemlines no more that 3” above the knee.
  • What is the Baccalaureate Ceremony?

    Seniors and their parents or guardians attend a program of readings and music in Langhorne Memorial Chapel the evening prior to graduation. Because space is limited inside the chapel, we must limit inside seating to four (4) family members and/or guests.
  • When and where is the the Senior Dinner Dance?

    On Friday, May 24, the Senior Dinner Dance is held at Boonsboro Country Club at 6:30 p.m. Boonsboro Country Club is located about 10 minutes from campus at 1709 BCC Drive.
  • Who plans the Senior Dance?

    This event is planned and executed by senior parents outside of the school. Planning the event this year is Candace Caprise, Kristen Cook, Sarah Elizabeth Sterne, Sarah Sorenson and Britney Thomson.
  • Are their special arrangements for guests with physical disabilities?

    A special drop-off location is available for guests with physical disabilities. Specific requests for assistance may be made through Margaret Lyle Jones, Director of Special Events at or 434.385.3602.
