O’Brien First-Ever MileStat Invitational Repeat Champ as Bishops Post Career Day
Breaking the elusive 15-minute barrier for the first time in his career, this past Saturday senior Daniel O’Brien came away with the win in Virginia’s largest cross country invite. His time of 14:57 for 5000 meters, which averages out to a blistering 4:49 per mile, was a full 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up. No other runner has ever won this event twice.
His teammates followed suit, posting the fastest marks of their own careers. Row Sterne '21 demolished his previous mark by 36 seconds, running 16:17 for 38th place overall in a stacked Varsity A field. Colin Walsh '22 ran a personal best 17:20 and ended up 161st out of 380 runners. In the Varsity B race, senior Josh Buckley placed 22nd in another career-best time of 17:18.
The Bishops are in action again this Saturday at New Covenant in the BRC/VIC Championship.
