Football - Varsity

VES has a long football history going back to 1916, and the coaching staff is excited about educating young men outside of the classroom and on the field. We focus on giving the boys the skills to succeed, from teamwork to accountability, and thinking strategy to believing in themselves and their teammates. Our athletes are expected to come to the game with a commitment to be coachable, be loyal and dependable, be the best student they can be, demonstrate respect, practice like a winner and to represent VES with pride and integrity.  Each year we strive for championships, while building strong, disciplined young men.

VES currently plays eight-man football, after transitioning in the 2018-19 season and becoming one of several VISAA schools to form the new Virginia Independent School Football League (VISFL). The VISFL is the state’s first sanctioned eight-man league and includes a full playoff and championship game and all-league selections.

Our VES Bishops football team calls Pope Stadium home.
