Alumni Golf Invitational

Pinehurst Alumni Golf - July 17 - 19

Greetings from the Village!
It’s time! We are delighted to invite you to the 20th Annual VES Golf Invitational and the hospitality of the world renowned Pine Crest Inn in the Village of Pinehurst, NC. This storied old Inn will once more be VES Central for this terrific event.
We will begin play Friday at the Talamore Golf Resort with tee times starting at 12:36 p.m. from the first and tenth tee. Friday’s round will be medal play for the Class Cup with prizes for Low Gross and Low Net as well as Net scores by flight. Dinner and awards will follow Friday evening at the Inn. On Saturday, we will be playing at Legacy Golf Links, beginning at 9:33a.m.. Saturday’s round will be a Captain’s Choice tournament, ($20 fee, added to entry fee below) with teams determined by handicaps. The Charlie Burton Commissioner’s Cup and team awards will be presented that evening at the Barrett Cottage along with a buffet dinner Under the Oaks, starting around 7 p.m.. Anyone wishing to play golf on Sunday may set up their own times.

We are excited to announce a new event for the weekend: The Chris Smith ‘82 “Carolina Blue” Skills Competition.

At your convenience, you must complete an 18-hole round at the Resorts’ Thistle Dhu putting course. Turn in your completed scorecard to Commissioner Holmes prior to Saturday’s dinner Under the Oaks. We will announce and award three places. The winner’s names will be engraved on a new trophy which will take its place beside the existing Alumni Golf Tournament trophies in Van Every and Chris will make a gift to the school of $1,000 in their honor. Sorry – no ‘gimmies… Everything in the hole.
With limited space available at The Pine Crest Inn, reservations are only available for the two night package which includes Friday and Saturday evenings. The Pine Crest now offers only a modified American plan which does not include dinner as part of their rate. We have reflected that change in our package pricing as well. Both Friday and Saturday evening meals will be charged separately to your credit card on file with the Inn. Cost this year will be $336, which includes two nights’ accommodations, two breakfasts, two rounds of golf with carts and awards for the players. For those residing in the Pinehurst area and require golf only, the price will be $160. The Social Only fee is $179, for non-golfers who just want to come for the fun and camaraderie.
Tee times, pairings, rooms, meals and the details of the event take time. And, the Pine Crest is now requiring deposits be paid by April 30, 2020. We ask that you please be considerate and register today.

See you in Pinehurst!
