OPEN POSITIONS

 
LONG-TERM (3.5 MONTHS) SUBSTITUTE UPPER SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER 

Virginia Episcopal School seeks to fill a long-term substitute position in English from February 15, 2020, until the end of May 2020.

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, a Master’s degree is desired. The successful candidate will have:
 
  • Demonstrated strength in English teaching experience. Specifically, the position requires the candidate to teach Advanced Placement English Literature and 10th Grade English.
  • Demonstrated interest in and experience with student-centered educational practices and experience in a variety of teaching methods.
  • The ability to enjoy, engage and inspire adolescents to strive toward their best in the classroom.
  • Availability from 8:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m., Monday through Friday from February 15, 2020, until the end of May 2020.

UPPER SCHOOL MATH TEACHER FOR 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR
 
Virginia Episcopal School seeks to fill a full-time position in Mathematics for the 2020-2021 academic year. There is the potential for this position to fulfill the role of Mathematics Department Chair, presented with an applicant qualified for this leadership work. A bachelor’s in a related field is required, a master’s degree is desired. The successful candidate will have:
 
  • Demonstrated strength in mathematics teaching experience, with the ability to teach upper-level high school math including Advanced Placement Calculus AB / BC and/or AP Statistics.
  • Demonstrated interest in and experience with student-centered educational practices and experience in a variety of teaching methods.
  • A willingness to partake in a variety of school needs, including coaching or leading clubs and activities.
  • The ability to enjoy, engage and inspire adolescents to strive toward their best in the classroom and community, as their teacher, advisor, coach and dorm parent.
  • Experience in boarding school is preferred but not necessary
 
In addition, each VES faculty member serves as an advisor to a small group of students, leads or supports afternoon programs, and supports the residential life program as a member of a duty team or dorm parent.
