Lacrosse - Girls Varsity
VES' girls lacrosse program focuses on preparing our student-athletes for that next level, while also instilling a love and knowledge of the game.
Head Coach Justine Button's daily goal is to make each student-athlete better and emphasizes the importance of fundamentals and high-level stick skills. Every player learns that, to be the best on the field, it all starts with a strong foundation of advanced stick skills, game sense and speed. Along with our training techniques, our coaching staff believes in empowering young women to be the best that they can be in all areas of student life on campus and focuses on the importance of working with a team, challenging yourself to push your limits and building confidence in yourself and others.
In the winter, our team begins to hone their skills, and focus on strength and conditioning. You may participate in clinics and sessions in our fitness center and indoor practice facilities.
In the past five years, our team has made it to the Division II state playoffs for three seasons and in 2018 won our Blue Ridge Conference. Coach Justine Button also has been named Coach of the year in our region several times. Many of our athletes have gone on to play at the collegiate level and in the past five years have sent players to Duke University, Davidson College, University of Mary Washington, Haverford and Sewanee.
