Joshua Miller is Director of Theatre Arts at VES, where he instructs students in acting, musical theater, technical theater, sound engineering and lighting design, video production and cinematography. He directs the annual musical, plays and one-acts. He also serves as JV Boys Basketball coach, dorm parent on Pendleton and a student advisor.
As Artistic Director of the Virginia Summer Arts Collaborative, Joshua brings together a team of industry experts and seasoned college students enrolled in the arts to offer high-level instruction and networking. Joshua’s emphasis on incorporating time for reflection, mindfulness and self-awareness within the program day and his commitment to creating collaborative opportunities for young artists deliver a one-of-a-kind summer arts experience.
A native of Western North Carolina, where he completed his B.F.A in Musical Theatre, and has since worked throughout the country performing and instructing in the Theatre Arts. After completing a year at Wayne State University's Hilberry Theatre (Detroit, MI), he was appointed one of the Assistant Directors of VASTA (Voice and Speech Trainers Association), and became the Director of Theatre Arts for an independent school in San Francisco, CA. Joshua has worked for the past eight years in various regional theaters, serving as an actor, director, music director, technician, and dialect coach.
Ian Morris graduated in 2018 from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Penn., where he earned a B.A. in English and was on the men’s basketball team all four years. Born and raised in New York City, he spent his last two years of high school at The Gunnery School in Washington, Conn. At VES, Ian lives on campus, serving as a dorm parent on Pendleton and as a member of the campus duty team. He also will serve as an assistant JV boys basketball coach.
