Visual Arts
The Visual Arts program at Virginia Episcopal School is grounded in the formal elements of art and principles of design providing a robust base for students to express their ideas visually. We believe art is an intellectual process accessible to all students.

Our studio art program welcomes and emphasizes innovation, passion, and self-expression through the development of ideas and the pursuit of strong use of media and technical skills. Our courses draw upon art history and reference contemporary work for inspiration. Learning to take risks and being inventive in the process of making artwork are central to our program. Individual and group critiques are an integral part of reflecting on process and defining and refining a personal vision. Our more ambitious students submit portfolios to the College Board and include art supplements with their applications to college. Student artists culminate their course work by displaying their artwork in our on site professional gallery space.
