Virginia Episcopal School

VES is a co-ed college preparatory school for boarding and day students in grades 9 – 12. In our intentionally small, diverse and engaging community—260 young men and women and 40 faculty—we guide students to strive Toward Full Stature in their academic, ethical, spiritual and personal growth.

The Arts

The arts are celebrated every day at VES as we discover, nurture and showcase creative and artistic talent—believing an appreciation for the arts is paramount to rich experiences in school and life.

A robust academic arts curriculum is complemented by dynamic opportunities beyond the classroom including plays, our annual musical, technical theater, Sketchbook Club, music ensembles and dance training. Students may pursue independent study projects with a focus on the arts, as well.

You will notice at VES the many opportunities to share your work. At the end of each week, our VES community comes together to enjoy the talents of fellow students during Fine Arts Fridays. Assemblies, chapel and Sunday night Vespers feature a variety of music. Whether through concerts and performances, gallery exhibits, the VES Oscars, talent shows and late night coffeehouse events on campus, Bishop Radio broadcasts or guest artists, students and faculty can perform or simply appreciate the breadth of artistry in this community.

Find your place in the arts at VES.

Whether you’ve been studying for years or you’re excited to discover untapped skills, VES provides the perfect place to explore, learn and perfect your talents.

Enjoy the Arts in Our Region

Right outside our campus, the city of Lynchburg has an active and diverse arts community with endless opportunities to catch a play, hear live music, attend the opera and symphony and stroll through galleries. And throughout the broader region, opportunities for enjoying the arts are ever-present.
