Apply
We are excited that you are choosing to apply to VES!
Please follow the instructions below and note the important deadlines and decision dates. And, at any point, don't hesitate to contact our VES Admission Team: admission@ves.org | 434.385.3607.
Complete the Application
You can apply to VES for the 2022-2023 school year in two different ways. Choose either our online VES application or the SSAT Standard Application Online.
Complete the VES online application. Click here for first-time login instructions.
Complete the Standard Application Online (SAO).
Application Process:
1. Complete all sections of the application using one of the links you see above.
2. Request recommendation forms to be completed by your current math and English teachers as well as your principal/guidance counselor.
3. We ask that your official school reports/transcripts be sent to VES through your application portal.
4. Contact our Admission Team if you have not yet had the opportunity to schedule your campus visit and interview: admission@ves.org | 434.385.3607.
Note to Applicants
Please complete the Essay Prompts & Short Answers section in your own voice. Authenticity is far more important than perfection. Remember to proofread your work before you submit it.
Note to Parents and Guardians
Please allow your student to complete their portion of the application independently. Following the Applicant Essay Prompts & Short Answers section, the remaining sections should be completed by you. The Parent Insights section will give you the opportunity to tell us more about your student.
Interview
The interview is a required part of the admission process. Currently, we are conducting interviews virtually and in person. If you have not yet scheduled your interview, please contact the Admission Office at 434.385.3607 or admission@ves.org.
Standardized Testing
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, our test-optional policy will remain in effect during the admission cycle for the 2021-22 school year. While we will not require applicants to submit standardized test scores (the SSAT, PSAT, SAT and ACT), you are more than welcome to share scores with us.
- If you are entering 9th or 10th grade and choose to take the SSAT, please register here and submit scores before February 1. VES’s school code is 7972. Please be sure to request, at the time the test is taken, that the test results be sent directly to VES.
- If a student chooses to not take the SSAT, we ask that the student submit a graded essay that includes the teacher’s comments.
- Students applying for the 11th or 12th grade may submit a PSAT, SAT or ACT score instead of the SSAT.
- If you have a comprehensive evaluation, including a WISC, WJ, etc., please include the complete results, summaries and recommendations.
Transcripts and Recommendations
Please provide a current grade report and official school transcript(s) from the previous two years. VES also requires recommendation forms from your current English and math teachers, as well as your school Guidance Counselor, Advisor, Principal, or Head of School. The Admission Committee also welcomes letters from other teachers, friends or alumni who know you well and are interested in advocating on your behalf.
Virginia Episcopal School does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, religion, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of all policies.
