New Humanities Building: Pannill-Smith Hall
We are making great strides in planning for and investing in VES’ future. An exciting, tangible sign of this investment is the construction fencing that envelops the back of campus as construction begins on Pannill-Smith Hall.
Pannill-Smith Hall is the first new-from-the-ground-up building erected on the VES campus since Van Every Field House, more than 25 years ago. This facility is a statement building, an architectural gem as we seek to equip VES with first-class facilities. Its exterior design incorporates many of the signature architectural details found in our historic corridor, and the interior captures the VES aesthetic, while creating modern spaces better suited to today’s approaches to teaching and learning.
The other statement we are making with this building is our commitment to our humanities program, which will be housed here. We, of course, will continue to invest in our science, math, technology and arts offerings, which are incredibly robust today. However, we believe one of the hallmarks of a VES education has been and will continue to be teaching our students to write, think, discuss, communicate and collaborate. In an era where more and more parents and students are eschewing the traditional liberal arts education at the college level, it is more critical than ever to prepare our students with the communication skills they will need for college and beyond.
The opening of the facility is slated for 2nd semester 2023. In the meantime, we invite you to enjoy our live camera feed, watch videos and read coverage about Pannill-Smith Hall as it comes to life over these next months.
