Johnson Memorial Field & Carrington-McGhee Memorial Track
Built in a natural bowl surrounded by large trees, Johnson Field is home to the VES Fighting Bishops football team. On beautiful fall Saturday afternoons, as the leaves begin to change, it is one of the most picturesque sites in Lynchburg. It is also home to the Carrington/McGhee Memorial Track which was completed in 2006.
Johnson Field was renovated in 2006 while the track was resurfaced that same year and dedicated to R. Gray Carrington '42, former track team member and longtime benefactor to VES, and to Chester McGhee, former teacher and boxing coach.
