Barksdale Gymnasium
Barksdale Gymnasium was the original gym for campus and is the anchor for the VES athletic tradition. Still in use today, Barksdale is home to the VES wrestling team, the Rice Wrestling Room, and provides stage space for the fall and spring theatre productions.
Built in 1919, legend has it that Dr. Jett had Barksdale Gymnasium constructed in the exact dimensions of King Solomon's Temple. So when you come to visit, don't forget to bring your tape measure!
