Emmanuel Jal Visits VES
1/29/2012
Talk about stature. Emmanuel Jal stands as a living testament to the power of lifelong personal growth. Born in South Sudan, he was sent at the age of seven to a military training camp, where he was given an AK-47 and taught how to hate. After years of civil war, Emmanuel and others ultimately ran away. With basic rations for only one month, 400 boys began a trip that would last for three months. They endured starvation, disease, and death. In the end, Emmanuel was one of only 16 to survive...Read More

12/15/2010

We are looking carefully at the weather forecast for Thursday, December 16. It is apparent that Lynchburg and the surrounding area will get snow beginning Thursday morning. It is our plan at this point to run a normal class schedule and celebrate as a community our Lessons and Carols service. Some families have planned to depart VES following the Lessons and Carols service. It is our recommendation to delay this departure until Friday as the forecast significantly improves by that time. The majority of students plan to depart on Friday anyway. We will be fully staffed and operational through Friday at noon offering breakfast and lunch in our dining hall to any students that remain on campus. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Bruce McCormick at bmccormick@ves.org or via phone at 434-385-3639. Thank you very much and Happy Holidays!
