When you think of friends in high school, you don't usually think of teachers, do you?

Because here, our faculty and staff are not just friendly -- they're friends. You can expect to play soccer with your teachers, shoot hoops with them, have dinner with their families, and go to the movies or a play with them. They're also your neighbors. More than 70 percent of VES faculty and staff live on campus with their own families. So your home is their home too. They're part of your family.

The most fundamental element of the teacher-student relationship, or any relationship at VES, is respect. Our teachers show interest, notice the good things that students do, and are attentive to the students. We expect the same from our students. We believe that in a place where respect is a given, people have more freedom to explore, grow, and feel at ease.
