Religion The study of religion at VES not only supports our program of Christian liturgy and prayer, but also reminds students of the historical and cultural significance of their own religious heritage and the religious traditions of other world faiths. Recognizing the strong influence religion has played in shaping Western civilization, individual character, and faith assumptions, the religion department has shaped a curriculum that examines the Judeo-Christian and philosophical traditions that have played a fundamental role in the development of the modern West. Religion courses are 12-week classes offered in each of the three academic terms. All students are required to take two courses in religion to graduate. One of these courses must be a scripture course, either Old or New Testament. The second may be selected from courses in ethics and world religions. |
