History

The history department will prepare you to succeed in liberal arts courses at the collegiate level. We emphasize the mastery of academic skills and historical narrative and fact in a developmental sequence of courses.

The course offerings are broad, particularly for a small school: Ancient and Medieval History and Government in the freshman and sophomore years, and U.S. History, Modern European History, and Economics in the junior and senior years. Courses in Russian, and Latin American Culture and Civilization, add an extra dimension to the curriculum. Your classes will focus on lectures, student presentations, the use of primary and secondary documents, and class discussions.

Students are required to earn at least two history credits, including U.S. History and Modern European History.
